AAFRO is currently recruiting participants for the 2015 Women's Words program.
Women's Words is a new AAFRO program and has been designed to break down feelings of isolation that many women experience when they are new to Australia.
Women's Words aims to provide female new arrivals with a support network that they can draw on as they settle themselves and their families into life here in Australia, it also aims to provide participants with knowledge and skills that they will need to find work and for everyday life here in Australia and finally the programs hopes to raise awareness of the support that is available to participants in their local community.
Women's Words will involve scheduled weekly get togethers in a family friendly venue. Guest speakers will be invited to present to the group each week on different subjects and areas of need. The first six sessions will have allocated speakers, the content of the last six weeks will be established by the group once they have come together and agreed on their specific needs. Each session will be structured with about an hour's input from the guest speaker, an hour's discussion and then an hour for the group to sit and chat over a coffee, tea and biscuits.
