AAFRO is currently recruiting participants for the 2015 Women's Words program.

Women's Words is a new AAFRO program and has been designed to break down feelings of isolation that many women experience when they are new to Australia.

Women's Words aims to provide female new arrivals with a support network that they can draw on as they settle themselves and their families into life here in Australia, it also aims to provide participants with knowledge and skills that they will need to find work and for everyday life here in Australia and finally the programs hopes to raise awareness of the support that is available to participants in their local community.

On the 27 September AAFRO completed its 2014 Stir It Up program with a delicious presentation lunch attended by parents and Mr Chin Tan, Chairperson of the Victorian Multicultural Commission and catered for by the 10 participants.

The AAFRO Stir It Up participants commenced the program on 16 August and were motivated to join the program because they had never really cooked before and wanted to learn new and healthy recipes with the aim of being able to cook for themselves, their family and friends. They were also eager to meet new friends and join a program different to the other extra-curricular activities they usually participate in.

tutoringAAFRO Tutoring has commenced for 2015. The program offers intensive small group tutoring and invidual help with homework tasks and general skills (Maths, Science and English). It provides basic numeracy and literacy skills to primary age children through to VCE-level students.
